Kinross has wrapped up its annual Harvest Celebration to be held in and around Gibbston for 2022.

The 2022 Kinross Harvest Celebration took place from 17-26 June, including a range of events which celebrate the conclusion of harvest – the most important year for our region’s winegrowers and viticulturists.

Whilst paying homage to our region’s world-class wine industry, the week of events also provided locals and visitors a chance to take part in some fun and informative tastings and wine-related activities.

Each year we love hosting events that showcase the unique profile our valley has on the world scale and celebrate the personalities that live here. Gibbston’s unique terroir makes it a particularly tough region to grow grapes, but the volatility of this environment is also what produces the elegant, complex wines we are now so famous for internationally.

This event aims to showcase some of the best our region has to offer. It has something for everyone to enjoy, whether you’re an avid collector or an amateur wine enthusiast. We hope you can join us next year! Dates for 2023 are yet to be announced, but will be in late May/June.

Gibbston Vintage Wine Tasting

The first event of our 2022 Kinross Harvest Celebration - an annual event in Gibbston, Queenstown that celebrates the close of the wine industry's busiest time of year - the grape harvest. This festival brings together a range of events to celebrate the magic of the world of wine and the fine humans who spend their lives crafting and creating liquid gold.

Gibbston Vintage Wine Tasting
Hosted by Alan Brady, Christopher Keys & Timbo Deaker
5pm doors open, 5:30pm start

Gibbston as a wine region punches well above its weight on the global scale, with wines grown within 5kms of each other taking out the International Wine Challenge NZ Best Red Wine Trophy for the last two years. Join us as we sample some iconic wines from the length of the valley and learn about how the interconnectedness of the wine growers and makers have collectively built the 40 year legacy.

We’ll be joined by some of our region's finest winemakers, viticulturists and locals who have added their own mark and together enjoy some beautiful wines both aged and current vintage, which we feel are true representations of site. We'll also toss around some of the key issues facing our valley, distill some of the myths about winemaking here and chat about the quest for gaining GI status for this unique region.

This tasting is all about putting our individual brands aside, and discussing as a community the strengths and challenges of our cool climate, high altitude, spectacular home.
